James Cameron is a filmmaker and explorer who divides his time between making milestone Hollywood feature films and deep ocean exploration. As a writer and director, Cameron created The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator Two: Judgment Day, True Lies, Titanic and Avatar. The latter are the two highest grossing movies ever, and the only ones to surpass two billion dollars in global box office sales. Cameron has led 8 deep ocean expeditions from which 6 documentaries were made, and has personally dived 88 times in research submersibles, including 33 dives to the wreck of the Titanic. In preparation for these expeditions, Cameron developed cutting edge cameras, lighting, robotics and submersible vehicles. On March 26, 2012 Cameron set the world’s solo diving record in a submersible he co-designed, descending to the deepest place in Earth’s oceans, 35,787 feet down in the Challenger Deep.
